May Lindstrom The Clean Dirt

Described as daily microdermabrasion, this oxymoronically named cleanser has become a beloved staple amongst clean beauty enthusiasts. The Clean Dirt, a powdery mixture of clay, spices and salts only needs a few drops of warm water until is mousses up into a heated, tingly scrub. The spicy cocktail of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove smells vaguely Christmas-y and certainly gets the circulation going, but it's also spiked with H20-activated Vitamin C -- one of the few anti-aging ingredients scientifically proven to be, well, anti-aging. And the clay helps sweep away debris and mop up excess oil, leaving skin woken up and freshly scrubbed. I wouldn't recommend it for very sensitive skin, at least not on a regular basis. The spices are very spicy and one should take care with gently scrubbing, the granular bits—much like actual dirt—are large and uneven. But to liven up a dreary winter morning? This is the equivalent of a couple espresso shots and a brisk morning run.
